eSIM Compatible Phones — The Complete 2026 List

Most phones from 2019 and later support eSIM. If you bought a flagship phone in the last 5 years, it almost certainly has eSIM. Here's the full list by manufacturer, plus how to check your specific device.

Apple iPhone

All iPhones from XS/XR (2018) and newer support eSIM.

Not compatible: iPhone X and older (no eSIM hardware).

Samsung Galaxy

Galaxy S20 series and newer support eSIM.

Important: Some US carrier-locked Galaxy phones have eSIM disabled in firmware. Unlocked models are safest.

Google Pixel

All Pixel phones from Pixel 4 (2019) and newer support eSIM.

Other Android Brands

How to Check Your Phone

iPhone: Settings → General → About → scroll to "Available SIM" (should show "eSIM" or "Dual SIM").

Android: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → look for "Add eSIM" or "Download SIM." If you see this option, your phone supports eSIM.

Quick test: Dial *#06# — if you see an "EID" number, your phone has eSIM hardware.

Critical Requirement: Phone Must Be Unlocked

An eSIM-compatible phone that's carrier-locked won't accept a third-party eSIM. Your phone must be factory unlocked. If you bought your phone through a carrier on a payment plan, it's likely locked until paid off. Contact your carrier to unlock before traveling.

Common Questions

Can I use eSIM on a locked phone?

No. Carrier-locked phones only accept eSIMs from that carrier. You must unlock your phone before using a travel eSIM.

Do Chinese-market phones support eSIM?

Many do not — Chinese regulations historically restricted eSIM. Recent models (iPhone 16, Xiaomi 14) sold in China may still have eSIM disabled. Check your specific model.
